Work begins with decision interviews and report archaeology. The team identifies which questions recur, which existing reports influence action, how users challenge a number, and what latency genuinely changes a decision. Source inventories capture authority, access method, expected volume, late-arriving behaviour and constraints imposed by operational systems.
The data model separates raw evidence, validated events, conformed entities and governed measures. Event time and ingestion time are retained. Idempotent loads, schema validation, quarantine and reconciliation controls make failures visible without silently dropping records. Slowly changing reference data and corrections are handled explicitly so historical reports remain explainable.
Interface design reuses a consistent hierarchy: portfolio status, trend or distribution, exception queue and record evidence. Views are scoped by role and data policy. Performance budgets protect interactive use; pre-aggregation, columnar stores and caching are selected based on query patterns rather than used as substitutes for a coherent model.
